Reminders...For those students participating in the FOOD (cooking/baking) WONDER TIME on Friday, Feb. 2, we are asking that you prepare and bring your favorite toppings to fill a pita. This could include items such as lettuce, tomato, cucumber, peppers, banana, apples, cheese, hummus and wowbutter. Due to various student allergies, we ask that any items brought are peanut free. Approx.1/2 - 1 CUP (total prepared toppings) should be enough to fill a pita! The pitas will be provided by Byblos Bakery and are egg and nut FREE but may contain traces of milk products. If you have a student that is allergic to wheat or gluten, please bring in your own gluten free bread to make a sandwich or they can make a salad from the pita fillings as well. Our Day in Our Words...Today at the end of the day we wrote a letter to the fictional character “the once-lee” from the Lorax and we were pretending that we were a trufflula tree. We tried to imagine how we would feel if all of our family and friends were getting cut down and if we were next to be cut down. VO Today most of us finished our rough copy of our Lorax picture and some of us are moving onto the good copy now. GP Today we made a rough copy of a letter that we are going to write tomorrow with the class. CG Today at Daily 5 we went to the learning commons and got new books we shared our writing pieces at snack. AAA In music we started to watch “The Jungle Book” and learn our first song! Reminders...--> New Words Our Way words are going home today. We will do a check in on these words in 2 weeks. --> Book orders are due tomorrow. You can order them online now - Yay! Our Day in Our Words...Today the people who are finished their speech they will be sharing with a grade 1/2 class. They made a video of it in Iris to practice. VO Today in math we did a array except we disguised them from something from the Lorax book. BA Today for math we read The Lorax and we had to spot where there was an array and we got to do our own pictures, SAS In math the teachers also made the pictures and we had to spot the arrays that they made and I found it a finest bit complicated and it had to be part of the Lorax and it could be a mixed up scene and we had graph piece of paper and this was a rough copy and we will be doing a good copy and it will be an artwork out of the class on the boards. KSB In gym Mr. Der was helping the another class. So Ms. Dunmire taught us and she told us to think of our favorite animal and walk to the other side like what your favorite animal was and then you had to do 5 burpies and you would come back and Ms. Dunmire guessed what we were. Reminders...- Report Cards went home today! - No School tomorrow (Friday, Jan.26th) - We are still looking for a few more swimming volunteers (specifically males...). Thank you!! Our Day in Our Words...Me and SCC made a water invention to try to clean our polluted water. Fortunately for us it worked! We thought it would't. It was a cup and it had some holes in the bottom and a handle on it. And then in the other cup it had sand and cotton balls to get the oil and food coloring out. It was called the coffee cup purifier. KM & SCC This morning we were listening and looking at pictures of animals from people that work at CPAWS. We also polluted water with raisins for cow poop, food coloring for fertilizer, soap for oil, salt for salt water/road salt, windshield wiper fluid for washing your car. This polluted water represented what is in the Bow River before it is cleaned. JF & RM Mine almost made the water fully clear. It was barely tinted with food coloring. KC In gym we played volleyball, but you cannot score to the other team unless you passed to every player on your team. We had 5 people per team. Our Day in Our Words...Today we played a game called multiplication bingo and we had to get a line or a blackout after we got a line or a blackout we would win and you would get a sticker. BM In the morning at Daily 5 we worked on our speeches for our posters. On Monday we are hoping to present our speeches to the grade 1/2's. AC In music we continued our plays and presented them and me AC, AA, and ID. We went to the learning commons in the morning because every Wednesday we go there as a class but if you don't want to go there you don't have to. KSB Today in inquiry it was our last day to design our cleaning product and tomorrow we are going to make them and test them out. AA Today in math we played Bingo and you would have to figure out the math answer to the equation that the teacher would say. CG We did different types of stations. One of the new stations is where we would go on the wall but it is like we have an invisible chair, a wall sit! BA Try to explain your design for cleaning water to a family member. Our Day in Our Words...Today the peace ambassadors got a workshop class with the right to play leader her name was Meaghan and she taught us all these fun games such as British Bulldog or barking dog and another game she taught us was seated volleyball. SCC Today during math we were doing a multiplication chart starting from zero to twelve and we could not share our ideas but only do it in our head and I was able to finish my chart. PBK Today we had an assembly with the right to play group and her name was Meaghan and she told us all about right to play and what they do. CM At Daily 5 we wrote about our water pollution experiment and we also had to fill in our shower chart and Ms. Scott’s class had music. We continued our play on The Jungle Book and we will have a concert in May. KSB Today we did research on how we can clean polluted water by not wasting it in the sink. Our Day in Our Words...During inquiry, Ms.Scott and Ms.Dunmire were making something for us. We got a clear bucket of water and we had to pollute it with a couple of things and then at the end we had to take all of the pollution out. BA The ingredients were: coffee grounds, newspapers, flowers, sunflower seeds, cranberries, tinfoil, ferraro wrappers, icing sugar, food coloring, oil, and maple syrup. And kitchen utensils. AR We got to finish our posters for water conservation. We had a rubric where we had to answer and a teacher has to answer for us. We are going to share it with the grade 1/2's. NK Today during gym, we were also playing volleyball with partners. We had to set the ball and catch it. It wasn't that easy. PBK Talk & Extend... Explain our Inquiry experiment to your parents. Our Day in Our Words...Today me and DL finished our water conservation poster. AV While we were doing our posters and we had to glue them on the black piece of paper and if you wanted you could make designs with ribbons and our posters were about conserving water. ID Today we did a math test and we had to solve this problem but when we finished we got harder questions to figure out. DL Today in s we watched a story in math called the "The wolfs chicken stew" and after watched it we had a math problem about it. VO Today we had music and we made a story about the Jungle Book which is what we will be making a play about and everyone will be apart of it and we have a script and everyone gets to be in it. In Gym we had to make triangle things and pass between ourselves and throw the volleyball on the wall and try to catch it. Reminders...Please continue to do shower recordings. Still looking for 4L milk jugs. Our Day in Our Words...In inquiry we continued making our posters for water conservation and most of us are working on our good copy, but myself and RLM finished our good copy and put it on black paper. RLM & MGS Me and XZ got onto the fine lining stage of the posters and the teacher wanted us to at least get to our good copy by the end of the day because we had 2 hours. Yesterday we learned what a rubric was and we created our own rubric. A rubric is something that is like grading your own work. You are grading yourself. KSB In the last few days we have been talking about strategies for multiplication and today we got to choose which strategy we wanted to do for some math questions. GP Today some people tried to finish up Plant IRIS and after gym we did math. XZ Today in gym we continued on doing volleyball and practicing our forehand pass. LW We did inquiry twice but some people chose to go outside. Our break was pretty long. Some people decided to stay inside and got to finish their posters. NK For Daily 5, in one of the rounds, I chose writing and I wrote about the spirit of Eric Harvie school and I showed it to some of my friends. LW After lunch today we did split diagrams for multiplication and they are another strategy to make multiplication easier. AV At gym we played some sort of volleyball. You need a partner. One partner throws the volleyball and the other one has to bump it with their fist or palm. Then the first partner has to catch it. NK In music, we had to try to get lyrics from the Jungle Book in order and then we had to make a pose for them. We had to perform them in front of the class. RLM Today in gym we started to learn about volleyball and we got a partner and a ball and one of your partners would throw it at you and you would throw it back and my partner and I did it 5 times! GP Today we were making posters and they were about conserving water. SCC Some of the ideas that we came up with for do's and don'ts was do, make it organized and don't have unclear pictures. Reminders...Have a wonderful weekend! Our Day in Our Words...Today we played heads up seven up and seven people were "it" and they would tap your thumbs and you would put your thumb down and at the end you had to guess who put your thumb down and you could only tag one person and if guessed right you get to switch with the person that put your thumb down. AH Some of us did exploration in the classroom and some of us put our plants into IRIS and we were meant to make posters for Inquiry but we ran out of time. The reason why we played heads up seven up and exploration is because we couldn't go outside for recess. KSB Today at math we did our times tables and we did 9x3 and 2x34 and we did one more which was 9x8 and Ms. Dunmire taught us some strategies on how to do them today and yesterday. BA The things that Ms. Dunmire and Ms. Scott taught us about was number lines and repeated addition. Ms. Dunmire also taught us how to skip count on the number line. VO Today, we did Christmas writing and we had to talk about what we did on the holidays and Christmas and we would say what we did for Christmas and stuff that we got for Christmas.
