Updates...Just a reminder all grade 4 students will be walking to TMC on Friday April 13, 8:30-11:00am The grade 3 students will remain at EHS as usual. The purpose of this visit is to participate in a variety of stations/centers, activities with the grade 4 students from Tuscany School. The activities will be facilitated by teachers and grade 8 students at Twelve Mile Coulee school. It is hoped that this familiarize students a bit with the school and ease some anxiety around the transition to TMC next year. The Parent Orientation for the grade 4 students going to grade 5, will be held at TMC, April 26th , 6:00pm –6:30pm. Practicing our facts...We used our math tools to become more efficient at our basic facts. We traced our progress and now we know which facts we need to practice to increase our skills. We recorded and solved the challenges in our books. Updates...
Working together...Students continue to work hard on collaborating to research the different regions of Alberta. Once the research component is complete, groups will work together to create a visual representation to share with peers. Updates...Jungle Book Musical Update: Dear Parents and Students, We have finally decided how the shows are going to work for the Jungle Book. The school has been divided up into thirds. Every class will get a dress rehearsal, a matinee and an evening performance. Ticket information will be coming to you shortly. Please see below for your student’s performance time and day. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at [email protected]. There will be a sign up genius for any parents who would like to volunteer for different aspects, any and all volunteers are appreciated. The dates are as follows, For evening performances please have your child arrive 30 minutes prior to the performance so that we can get costumes and make-up done! Tuesday May 15th Matinee – 9:45-10:45 Evening – show begins 6:30-7:30 (AMK, Scott, Cox, Simmons, Zadran, Neily) Wednesday May 16th Matinee – 1:30-2:30 – Evening show begins 6:30-7:30 (PMK, Dunmire, Bates/Zwack, Kelly, Ross, Le) Thursday May 17th Matinee – 1:30-2:30 – Evening show begins 6:30-7:30 (Campbell, Huebner, Chang, Fournier, Low, Slot, Day) All principal cast must be present at all shows. These are any characters that have speaking lines as well as, Vultures, wolves, elephants, jungle speakers and monkeys. All of these students are in grade 3/4. If you are not sure if this is your child, please email and ask Ms. Coulson ([email protected]) Thank you Jennele Coulson Wonder TimeStudents had the opportunity to explore using different materials and participating in different activities during our wonder time today. Students were free to take part in what ever activities they were interested in which resulted in a lot of enthusiasm and engagement. Here are some of the statements from today: Samantha - I learned how to twirl the baton. Mya - I learned how to use the robots in technology Daniel - I got to see cool things like a wasp’s nest. James - I built a boat at the lego station Gilbert - I saw a bird nest, a wasp’s nest, a volcano, and saw someone do a backflip in the gym. I was so surprised. Jaaden - I was in the gym and almost did a backflip. I played basketball. Cash - I went to the garage band area and tried to do a backflip in the gym. I also went to the Calm room. Matthew - I made a marbel run. Jaeyoon - I went to coding. I made a minecraft lego game. Sam - I went to theym and played basketball and built a lego house. Brock - I built with the blocks. Aseem - I did coding and played basketball. Jonny - I tried to build a football out of wire. I went to the gym and played basketball, and explored garage band and guitar. Jaxon - I went to the gym and played some basketball, and catch, did some trick shots and handball ping pong. Parker - I went outside. Farah- First I went to the painting, then plants, then I went to the makerspace and I made something for my cat. Anja- I went to doodle and draw for most of the time and did two pictures then went to painting. I went to wire and made something for my mom and it was my favorite. Winter- We did painting together then the gym, then went to the baton room. They also thought about the environmental problems happening in our world today and how we can be more mindful of how we use our planet. Students are continuing to learn about Alberta and looked closely at each of the six regions of our province through various resources including posters, books, brochures, and an interactive website: bit.do/6regions. We look forward to seeing where we will take our learning and how we will showcase it to share with each other. Updates...Welcome back to school! Wheels.. wheels.. wheels...Students learned about the fundamental concept of wheels, such as their weight distribution, size, etc. Ask your child about what type of wheels travel the fastest or furthest. Mr. Huang our student teacher from the U of C led us through a series of demonstrations and we made predictions as we tested each wheel type! We continue to learn about our province...
