Mrs. Zwack & Mrs. Bates class went to Reader Rock Garden today. Some highlights of our trip: -We explored the cemetery and learned about the legacy of some important people to Calgary -If a tombstone has a lamb on it it was a child or the persons parents were still alive when they died -A tombstone with a maple leaf means they fought in the War -We had a tour of Reader Rock Garden, the founder of the Garden was William Ronald Reader -We learned that the pathway in the rock garden was made of a collection of old rocks gifted to Mr. Reader -The plants were brought to Calgary by William Reader, he experimented with different plants to see if they might survive in Calgary -We became tour guides in the Cemetery and presented on famous Calgarians to the class -We learned about animals habitats and what might naturally need to be in a park -We created our own park on the whiteboard in the Reader Rock Garden classroom Mr. Kelly's class made pictures on the iPads to practice drawing. They also played math games. The Grade 4's went to Coulee Fest at TMC. Highlights of this trip was visiting stations about food. There were stands with activities and trying samples of foods that they made in CTF. We added some of our learning items to our visual journals in preparation for the end of the year. Important: Mr. Kelly's class will be going to Reader Rock Garden tomorrow. Please come dressed for the weather with a lunch in your backpack. You must have returned your field trip form and initialed the date change page.
