Beakerhead Ingenuity ChallengeIt was an exciting day at EHS as we embraced the design thinking process today. Students were challenged to create something based on the prompt: "There must be a better way!" Students worked in mixed groups from grades 1-4 in various classrooms around the school. Ask your child what they created and have him/her reflect on his/her successes, challenges and what he/she would do differently next time.
Some of our inventions included: I created a jack in the box that when you crank it, it goes down and hits the ground and makes a thud - it's like a reverse jack-in-the-box - Jaxon I made a castle with a bunny that flies to space. It gives animals a chance to explore space - Hannah I created a wake-up machine. There's a gigantic tube, and a box that you put your head in, and the tube is connected to beep the sound into. There's a hammer on the other side that you can whack it to make the sound to wake someone up - Troy My group created an umbrella that you attach to your waistband with a phone attached to a hinge. So now, you don't get wet and neither does your phone - Charlotte My question was: There must be a better way to survive in the wilderness. We made a shelter and a fire and a little thing with lots of suspension - we made it into a military crate that could be used in case of emergency - Lukan I created a table that you can charge your electronics - one side is electrical and the other side is a normal table and there is an off/on switch on the side - Ena We built an eco-friendly dress, so when it's too small for you, you can recycle it and we made a helmet that had a face on the front that is also eco-friendly. We created a fashion line called, Eco Fashion Line - Samantha and Anneliese
